Chinese New Year is an important traditional Chinese holiday celebrated at the turn of the Chinese calendar. In China, it is also known as the Spring Festival. Chinese New Year celebrations traditionally run from Chinese New Year’s Eve, the last day of the last month of the Chinese calendar, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month, making the festival the longest in the Chinese calendar.
This year, Carry Out Cafe will be celebrating Chinese New Year with a feast for your eyes and taste buds.
Now on display are Chinese Brush Paintings by Susan Abrams Tiano. A talented Newburyport artist, Susan has been working in this medium of brush, ink and rice paper for almost 30 years. She infuses “chi” (spirit or life force) to bring her floral and landscape paintings to life.
Come see this joyous work that is detailed yet fluid, serene yet spontaneous. The Artist Reception will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19th from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Carry Out Cafe and will feature tantalizing bites of Chinese cuisine. Help us ring in the Chinese New Year in style!
