It was a fun reception for Anika Ellison Savage. A self-described “Artist, Craftsman, Architect and Day Dreamer,” Anika has an eye for big, bold, beautiful images. Her artwork will be on display at Carry Out Cafe through June.
Anika always knew she was an artist at heart. When it came to a profession, though, she needed something that would dependably allow her to earn a living. Architecture — with its dual emphasis on art and science, creativity and analysis, left and right brain activity — was the obvious choice. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute (including study at the University of Florence, Italy), a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley, and aMaster of Business Administration from Babson College.
Her work reflects her fascination with the natural and built environment, people, coastal life and beauty. She creates in a variety of media including oil, pastel, watercolor, pottery, stained glass, fabric, sculpture and computer graphics.
She is currently a member of the Newburyport Art Association (where she has been an featured artist), the Rockport Art Association, the Naples Art Association at the Von Liebig Center, and the Star Island Art Group. She exhibits in these institutions as well as with colleagues in the Band of Brushes and Artists Anonymous.
